AUGUST MANAGER'S MESSAGE
Summertime is here and the heat is on! Our experienced Maintenance Team is working hard to ensure our golf course & club grounds are in the best shape possible. The recent rain will help in some areas, but the humidity is especially hard on our greens. Our Summer Greens Aeration will take place from Monday, August 22nd – Thursday August 25th, weather permitting. The course will be closed for play during this necessary process. The Practice Facilities will operate under normal hours during this time.
We are happy to announce the release of our new Harbor Club menu! This is Chef Garth’s take on modern European Tapas & classic American Cuisine. Come out and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere while you try out some of the new offerings. As a reminder, The Harbor Club is open Thursday – Saturday from 5pm-9pm (see weekly publications and club calendar for closure information). Don’t forget, we offer Happy Hour Specials from 4pm-6pm, half priced bottles of wine on Thursday starting at 5pm and live music on Friday starting at 6pm. Reservations are accepted but not required.
This month we have some great social events brought back by popular demand! Join us for the Murder Mystery Dinner, "A Dance with Death", Saturday, August 6th and the Jimmy Keys Comedy Show, Tuesday, August 9th. Click here to make your reservation for one or both today.
We are happy to announce the 2 staff promotions in our Food and Beverage Department! Katie Simpson has been promoted to our Event Manager working alongside Jessica Hewlett. Katie has been with us for 2 years as a server & bartender. More recently, she has been our Banquet Captain at The Cove for events. She has continued to excel with a positive demeanor and strong work ethic. You will see her leading the team at upcoming member social events. Colby Lynch, one of our newer faces here at FLCC, has been promoted to Lead Server. Colby comes to us with several years of serving experience from the Inn at Little Washington. He quickly adapted to the club style and our members. He will be assisting Michael O’Heir & Kevin Johnson with staff training to ensure we continue to offer the best service to our members and their guests If you see either of these two leading the way, please be sure to congratulate them on the well-deserved promotions!
The golf season has reached its mid-way point. We have had several golf tournaments take place over the past month and would like to thank all those who participated and congratulate the following:

Our Women’s Travel Golf Team are the 2022 Interclub League Champions! These women played their hearts out and remained UNDEFEATED the entire season! Congratulations to the ladies representing FLCC: Roberta Karch, Brenda Sites, Becki Davis, Kit Burns, Terry DeTroia, Deborah McManus, Beth Trites & Debbie Sandstrom.
We are honored to continue our partnership with Riverbend High School to help advance students in both golf & tennis. Their Fall golf season kicked off Monday with the Riverbend Bears Invitational Tournament. It is wonderful to see the results of our club’s strong development programs along with the efforts of their coaches leading these kids into sports they can play for years to come.
On August 6th & 7th, we will host some of the best golfers in the state during the Fredericksburg Amateur Golf Tournament. Come out to the Grille for lunch and watch the groups come off 18! Please note, tee times will be limited this weekend.
The tennis courts have been filled with many of our junior campers this Summer. It is great seeing lots of interest in tennis from our youngest members! For adults, we are now offering a great way for Ladies new to the game of tennis to get started with tennis at our weekly Hit & Sip. These complimentary tennis socials are free & open to all FLCC Members on Monday from 4pm-5pm, weather permitting. If you are looking to get into tennis, please contact Brian to learn about clinics, lessons and more!
