OCTOBER MANAGER'S MESSAGE
After a rainy start to this month, we are happy to move into fall with blue skies and pleasant temperatures. October is a great month for outdoor activities with family and we have some great indoor and outdoor events coming up.
On Sunday, October 16th, we will be offering an à la carte Brunch with the ever so popular, bottomless mimosas. Sunday, October 30th, we will host our 3rd Annual Halloween Harvest Festival. This fun outdoor family event will include a bounce house, obstacles and games for our young members along with some great food and music for the adults. On November 6th, we are hosting our first Oyster Festival with some great culinary creations from Chef Garth, live music & an auction to benefit The Friends of the Rappahannock. Make your reservation today for any or all of these great member events before they fill up!
I would like to thank everyone that took the time to complete our membership survey provided by Club Benchmarking. I know it was a bit lengthy and took some time to complete, however, your feedback and ideas are very much appreciated. We will analyze data received as our Board of Directors plan out a vision for the future of our club. The survey portal is open through October 7th, so please let us know if you haven’t received an email inviting you to take the membership survey at info@fawnlakecc.com.
October is a great month for golf and the course is in great condition. On Columbus Day, Monday, October 10th, the Golf Shop, Practice Facilities and Golf Course will open for play beginning at 2pm. Over the next 2 weeks, our best golfers at Fawn Lake will compete during our Club Championship series which is open to all Full Golf, Jr. Executive & Sports members with an established handicap. We want to wish good luck to all of our competitors. Please check with the Golf Shop for more information or to sign up!
Our Tennis Club Championships will be wrapping up this month as well. Congratulations to your 2022 Fawn Lake Country Club Tennis Champions:
Women’s Open Singles Champion: Tania White
Women’s Senior Doubles Champions: Kristen Victory & Darlene Johnson
Women’s Open Doubles Champions: Teresa Conologue & Tania White
Senior Mixed Doubles Champions: Ray & Kristen Victory
Please let me know if we can do anything to help you better enjoy your club.

Fawn Lake Artist Highlight
Fawn Lake Harbor Club is pleased to announce the members, who are Artists, displaying their artwork for the October – January.
Kathy Wanat shows a series of photographs called “The Aurora Borealis”. She and John traveled to Fairbanks, Alaska in January 2022 just to see this amazing phenomenon. They were not disappointed. They saw the Northern Lights on three consecutive nights. She was pleased with how the photos came out, but there is nothing more beautiful than seeing this phenomenon with the naked eye. The temperature was about minus 30 degrees, so against the dark nighttime sky, the stars appeared brighter and the northern lights showed a multitude of color. You may contact Kathy Wanat at kwanat@aol.com for further information.
Penny Schobel paints with oils on canvas. She is displaying artwork from her travels to the southwest, Scottsdale, Arizona, and Kona, Hawaii. Bryce Canyon is also represented in her work. My signature, ZETTE, is an abbreviation of my maiden name, Zetterstrom. My art life started while my Zetterstrom grandmother took care of me and my older cousin while our parents worked. Later my sister and younger cousin joined the group. To keep us busy while she did her chores my grandmother sat us all at the kitchen table with a box of crayons and large sheets of paper my grandfather brought home from his architectural firm. One of my favorite presents was a standing easel where I could paint to my heart’s content. You may contact Penny Schobel at penny.schobel@gmail.com for further information.
Terry Anstrom, watercolorist, started painting in 2008 and is recognized for her artwork in Potomac Valley Watercolorist, Virginia Watercolor Society (as a Signature Member), Springfield Art Guild, and as an Associate member of the American Watercolor Society. Terry features her watercolor entitled “ Colorful Leaves” from her visit to the Homestead and a fall foliage scene entitled “Natures Tapestry”. Terry’s work may also be viewed at her studio at The Workhouse Art Center in Lorton Virginia or online at www.Watercolors-byTerry.com
Please stop by to see the latest creations on display at the Harbor Club! |
